Edwardsville Education Association
Our History
In June of 1964, the original charter of the Edwardsville Education Association was granted by the Illinois Education Association.
Representing 175 teachers, the association's purpose outlined in Article II Section 1 included, "promoting the highest type of professional practices, to build solidarity among members of the profession, and to secure group thinking for the solution of problems."
Sixty years later, the association continues serving approximately 500 members today.

2012 Contract Negotiations
In 2012, contract negotiations stalled over TRS contributions, class size, and salary compensation. Superintendent, Ed Hightower, refused to return to the table. EEA members voted to give notice to strike. Two hundred members picketed across from Woodland Elementary and Lincoln Middle Schools bringing the superintendent back to the negotiation table and avoiding a strike.
